Online Puja Booking UAE Dubai: Planning Pujas Around the Gulf Work Week
By DevPravas Editorial Team · · 7 min read

It's 7:40 on a Friday morning in Al Nahda, Dubai, and Reema has exactly one window this week that belongs to her. Her office closes at noon on Fridays, the school run is done, and her mother-in-law in Indore has been dressed since dawn, waiting for the WhatsApp video link that will put the whole family in front of a pandit on the Shipra ghats in Ujjain. If the Rudrabhishek is going to happen this month, it happens today.
If you live in the Gulf, you know this feeling. A search for online puja booking UAE Dubai is rarely about finding a pandit. The Emirates have plenty of local priests for home visits. It's about getting a particular temple ritual in India done at a time your week can actually hold. This guide covers how that timing works, what to ask before you pay, and how families in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and even Singapore fit it around their weekends.
Puja booking for Gulf NRIs: why the week makes timing tricky
Since January 2022, the UAE federal government has worked a four-and-a-half-day week: Monday to Thursday in full, Friday until midday, with Saturday and Sunday as the weekend. Many private employers followed; plenty did not. Next door, in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain, the weekend is still Friday and Saturday. One Gulf family WhatsApp group can easily hold three different ideas of "the weekend."
Temple rituals, meanwhile, follow the panchang, not anyone's office calendar. Rudrabhishek is traditionally favoured on Mondays and through Shravan, Satyanarayan Katha on Purnima, and Shraadh on one fixed tithi a year. So the hard part of puja booking for Gulf NRIs is rarely the distance. It's matching one free morning to the right day.
The good news is the clock. The UAE is only 1 hour 30 minutes behind India (Gulf Standard Time is UTC+4; IST is UTC+5:30), and neither country changes its clocks for daylight saving. A 9:30 AM ritual in Ujjain is 8:00 AM in Dubai, all year round. Nobody has to set a 3 AM alarm, which is more than families in Toronto or Seattle can say.
Planning a puja on Friday in the UAE (or on Saturday)
Families who book smoothly from the Emirates tend to follow the same few habits.
Pick the day first, then let the ritual fit it. A live puja needs one 45–90 minute window when the pandit is at the ghat and your family is in front of a screen. For a Friday puja, UAE families usually choose an early slot, around 7:30 or 8 AM Dubai time, so it's finished before Friday prayers and before the half-day at work gets going. Saturday mornings work just as well, and often feel less rushed.
Check whether the date matters. Many pujas, including Rudrabhishek, Satyanarayan Katha and Navgraha Puja, can be done on any auspicious day, so your free Friday is fine. Others can't move. Shraadh during Pitru Paksha is tied to your ancestor's tithi, and if that falls on a Wednesday, the ritual happens on Wednesday. Ask before you book, not after.
Bring family in India onto the same stream. Because the gap is so small, a morning slot in Dubai is a comfortable mid-morning for grandparents in Indore or Kochi. Everyone watches the same live stream from their own home and hears the same names and gotra read out during the sankalp.
Don't stack three rituals into one exhausted morning. A Manglik dosha puja before a wedding, a Griha Pravesh for a new flat in Dubai Marina and a Navratri sankalp don't need to share a Friday. One ritual per slot is calmer, and calm is rather the point.
What to ask any service before you pay
Many families type their search in Hinglish as NRI ke liye pooja seva, "puja service for NRIs." It's a fair standard to hold any provider to. Before paying anyone, whether an online pandit in a Dubai listing or a service based in India, ask:
- Which temple or ghat will the ritual happen at? DevPravas pujas are currently performed in Ujjain, near Mahakaleshwar temple on the Shipra ghats. Varanasi and Prayagraj are listed as coming soon.
- Will I see it live, or only receive a video later?
- Will a coordinator confirm how our names and gotra are pronounced before the day?
- What happens if the stream fails or my name is read wrongly?
At DevPravas, the answer to that last question is written down. Under the 48-Hour Trust Guarantee, if the video wasn't live, your name or gotra was read incorrectly, or the ghat wasn't visible on camera, you can report it within 48 hours and choose a free re-performance or a full refund. You can also reschedule at no charge, as many times as you need, until the pandit begins sankalp preparations. The details are on our promise page.
Abu Dhabi, Singapore and the "short time gap" diaspora
The Gulf isn't the only place where a live puja lands at a sensible hour. A family in Abu Dhabi's Khalifa City has the same 90-minute gap as Dubai. Many there already have a strong local temple life, especially since the BAPS Hindu Mandir opened near the city in 2024. Local temples are wonderful for darshan and community. A live ritual from Ujjain is for when the family wants that jyotirlinga city's rites performed in their name.
Singapore sits on the other side of India, 2 hours 30 minutes ahead. An 8 AM ritual in Ujjain is 10:30 AM in Tampines, which makes it essentially a Saturday brunch-hour puja. The same approach works there: choose the day, confirm the tithi if one applies, and book the slot.
Online puja booking UAE Dubai: prices, prasad and paperwork
DevPravas lists prices in rupees, per puja. At the time of writing, Rudrabhishek starts at ₹4,700, Satyanarayan Katha at ₹1,800 and Navgraha Puja at ₹9,100, and each puja page shows its live-stream package separately. The full, current list is on the pujas page.
After the ritual, a digital certificate arrives the same day, and the Aashirwad prasad box ships with a courier tracking number. If tracking shows it hasn't been delivered within 14 days of your puja date, the prasad delivery charge is refunded. If some of the prasad is meant for relatives in India, say so when you book. Our post on what's inside the Aashirwad box walks through the contents.

Frequently asked questions
Can I book an online puja from Dubai for a specific Friday weeks in advance?
Yes. For anything tied to a muhurat, such as a Griha Pravesh, a wedding-related Manglik puja or a Pitru Paksha tithi, lock the date as soon as you know it, because early weekend slots go first. Send the coordinator your preferred Friday or Saturday, or use the booking page. If plans change, you can reschedule free of charge until sankalp preparations begin.
What time is a live puja from India in UAE time?
Subtract 1 hour 30 minutes from Indian Standard Time. A 9:00 AM ritual in Ujjain is 7:30 AM in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, and because neither country uses daylight saving, that holds all year. Singapore is 2 hours 30 minutes ahead of India. Our guide to joining a live puja across time zones covers the maths for other countries.
Is online puja booking from UAE and Dubai genuine, or just a video?
That depends on the provider, so ask directly. With devpravas.in, a pandit performs the puja live near Mahakaleshwar temple on the Shipra ghats in Ujjain, and you watch the stream as it happens. If the video wasn't live or your gotra was misread, report it within 48 hours for a re-performance or full refund. See our promise.
Can a pandit do Shraadh on a Friday if my ancestor's tithi falls midweek?
Generally, no. Shraadh is anchored to the tithi, so if it falls on a Tuesday, the ritual is done on Tuesday. Sarva Pitru Amavasya (October 10, 2026) covers ancestors whose tithi is unknown. The small time gap helps here: a mid-morning ritual in Ujjain is an early-morning one in Dubai. See the Shraadh / Pitru Paksha puja.
Should I hire an online pandit in Dubai or book a puja in India?
Both are valid. A local pandit is ideal for a home havan or any ritual that needs someone physically present, like a Griha Pravesh in your own flat. A live puja from India suits rites a family wants done at a particular tirtha, such as Ujjain. Many families use both across a year; our milestone pujas guide shows how.
Book your Friday (or Saturday) puja
