How your Satyanarayan Katha is performed
- 1
Your pandit joins the video call and helps you set up a simple home altar with the items you've kept ready, a kalash, a picture or idol of Satyanarayan, and offerings.
- 2
Kalash sthapana is guided step-by-step, with the pandit explaining what each item represents as you place it.
- 3
Sankalp is taken aloud with your name, gotra and the occasion behind the katha, a birthday, anniversary, new home or any new beginning.
- 4
The pandit narrates all five chapters (adhyayas) of the Satyanarayan Katha, pausing between chapters to explain the story's meaning as your family listens along.
- 5
Panchamrit and sheera (prasad) are offered at your altar under the pandit's live guidance, followed by the closing aarti performed together.
- 6
The call ends with a personal blessing addressed to you and your family by name, still live.

Rules & Guidelines
Before the Puja
- Arrange the altar, kalash and prasad ingredients using the checklist shared after booking

During the Puja
- Listen attentively through all five chapters of the katha as the priest narrates and guides you
- Keep hands folded during the aarti and offer the prasad as instructed
- Avoid stepping away from frame or engaging in unrelated conversation during the reading
- Children and elders are welcome to stay seated through the full katha together
After the Puja
- Distribute the prasad (sheera/halwa) to everyone present before anyone eats other food, per tradition

Frequently asked
Do I need to travel anywhere, or is this performed at my home?
There's no temple visit needed. Satyanarayan Katha is a home ritual by tradition, your pandit joins by video call and guides you and your family through every step at your own altar.
What do I need to arrange at home before the call?
A simple checklist is shared with you at booking, a kalash, a picture or idol of Satyanarayan, panchamrit ingredients and sheera (prasad) items. Your pandit talks you through the setup on the call itself, so nothing needs to be perfect in advance.
Can multiple family members be included in the sankalp?
Yes, the Enhanced and Festive packages let you add up to five family members' names and gotras to a single live sankalp, which is common when the katha marks a shared family occasion.
Why is Satyanarayan Katha performed for occasions like birthdays or new beginnings?
The katha narrates the story of Lord Satyanarayan, a form of Vishnu, and the fulfilment of vows made in his name. Families traditionally perform it to seek blessings at milestones, birthdays, anniversaries, new beginnings and as a follow-up to a griha pravesh.
