How your Laghu Rudra is performed
- 1
Your pandit group opens the video call from the Ujjain temple premises and shows the sankalp setup on the Shiva Lingam.
- 2
Sankalp is taken aloud with your name, gotra and intention read from a card visible on camera.
- 3
The group begins chanting Sri Rudram - 11 rounds recited 11 times each, 121 avartans in total.
- 4
A continuous abhishek is offered through the chanting with Panchamrit, milk, curd, honey, ghee, sugar and Ganga jal.
- 5
The Shiva Lingam is adorned with bilva patra and shringar as the chanting concludes.
- 6
The call ends with a closing aarti and a blessing addressed to you by name, still live.

Frequently asked
What is Laghu Rudra and how is it different from a full Rudra puja?
Laghu Rudra is 121 avartans (11x11 rounds) of the Rudri hymn - a shorter, focused form of the larger Maha Rudra ritual (which runs to thousands of avartans), performed for health, protection and dosha relief.
Why is this puja performed in Ujjain?
Our on-site pandits perform the ritual in Ujjain, one of India's most significant Shaiva pilgrimage sites, using the same Rudri chanting and abhishek sequence followed at the region's temples.
How many pandits are involved?
A group of pandits chants together to complete the 121 avartans within the session window; the exact group size is confirmed with you at booking based on your preferred date.
Can I book this puja on behalf of a family member who isn't present?
Yes, the sankalp only needs the person's name and gotra, which you can provide at booking.
What if I can't join live at the scheduled time?
We'll work with you to find a slot that fits your time zone, including US and UK evening hours for NRI families. Your session recording is also available for 30 days.
